“What Does It Take To Stop You?”

“Before success comes to any man’s life, he’s sure to meet with much temporary defeat and perhaps some failures. When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and most logical thing to do is quit. That’s exactly what the majority of men do.” Napoleon Hill.

Do the following three things and nothing can stop you:

First, identify your governing values. You’ll argue for your convictions, but you will die for your core values. What three to five core values govern your life? If you hesitate, or don’t know, then you are being guided by someone else’s value system.

There are many valuable things you could do with your life. However, great leaders are passionate about the one that rises above all others. What’s yours? If you don’t know—you can be stopped.

Second, you have a strategy based on clear and measurable goals that help you do something about those values. A goal is a planned declaration of war against the status quo. To pursue and reach a goal, you must do something new. You must leave the familiar, get out of your comfort zone and explore new options. You won’t find this in some book on leadership, or attending a seminar on, ”Ten Easy Steps To Seeing A Dream Come True.”

Third, you are determined. A made up mind is a battle won. You persevere, not until you are tired, but until you win. Someone once said, “Be like a stamp. Stick to it until arriving at the pre-determined destination without a return address.” Or, using today’s vernacular, your “Goal” delete button doesn’t work.

Memorize Ella Wheeler’s poem, simply entitled, “Will”
”There is no chance, no destiny, no fate that can circumvent or hinder or control that firm resolve of a determined soul.”

Winston Churchill, England’s Prime Minister during World War II, said, “Success is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.”

The reason most people never achieve their dream is because they simply quit, give up too soon. Life was never meant to be easy. Without struggle, nothing develops whether it’s a butterfly, acorns, or you. Remember, the times where it’s most important to persevere are often the times that you will be the most tested.

“Effort only fully releases its reward when you refuse to quit.” Napoleon Hill

What does it take to stop you? If you give any answer other than NOTHING, you will never reach your ultimate potential. The greatest warehouse of unused potential is the graveyard. Don’t let it be said about you, “They tried, but they failed.”

When you make “trying” the goal, you win every time because trying is the goal. However, you will never accomplish your dream/vision, but you tried. Don’t try to do anything, just do it! As Yoda said, “There is no try, just do or not do.”

You never lose as long as you keep showing up, give it your best and refuse to be stopped!
