THOUGHTS ON THE LORD’S DAY

“What do you want to be known for when your number is called?”

If you are not careful, your gifts, abilities and personality can take you further than your character and integrity can sustain you.

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Mark 8:36

Only God can provide a vision bigger than yourself and that will outlast your lifetime. He alone provides the grace and power to finish your assignment. Everyone finishes, it’s just how you finish. Have you helped more people than you’ve hurt? Talent and ability may get you to the head of the pack, but only character and keeping your word keep you there.

The Apostle Paul, not only finished his course, he “kept the faith.” Gifts and abilities may bring mankind’s temporary acclaim, but personal character and integrity bring a lifetime of God’s approval and many are blessed along the way.

What do you want to be known for at the end? Will you be known more for the problems you solved or for the problems you created? Mature Christians are created from the inside out. Live every day as if it were your last. No one knows when their number will be called.
